Hello. I would ask what part of the hand goes to sleep? Is it mostly your thumb and index/middle finger?
the most common problem is a pinched nerve in the cervical spine, a C5 or C6 radiculopathy if the pain seems to shoot to your shoulder from your neck.

Anita's pain:Pain:Ive noted when, where the pain gets worse, intensified.- Pain after arm movement reaching up or out forward together arms. After lifting heavy things, after rotating arms at shoulder. Stretches also intensify the pain. After using phone head down, trouble sitting at computer. Forward neck and tilt up raising head up position triggers pain. Before intermittent, but constant pain or sensation in mild to severe pain from a month ago.- Leaning towards right side sparks of right shoulderblade intensity in pain. From sitting, pains creep through torso. Causes sweating in hands, heartrate up.- Crackling, popping, grinding gritting around neck and shoulders, throat, midback, even when swallowing, There was 3 days of this spasm feather feeling in the throat which passed, hasnt repeated. Progressed to a choking strangling tight sensation from anxiety that comes and goes. Now in the last 2 weeks, swallowing more harder to swallow chunky bites, aware of swallowing. Clicking sound.- Seems to centralised in middle upper back, above/at bra strap level spine, with pull towards right side being more intense. This radiates up into neck, head base and arms. Jaw and throat too. Pulsing tension in jaw.- All started in October as neck/head wierd vibrational sensation. Started after doing cleaning the wardobes.- Went on to progress as tenseness in upper body, hard time keeping still. Need to support head on arm because it feels like it vibrates, head detached from neck feeling. Hypersensitivities to lights, water cooler. Hard to stand still and look straight forward with head still- Avoiding sitting down. Lying down was still ok at start but would have jerks in upper body and tremors would start in thighs.- first tremor in November along with major tremor one with blood pressure spike. Pulsatile tinnitus, whoosh sounds.- Symptoms better when moving and active. From November/December, lying down would trigger symptoms like tremors, jerkiness and vibrations, like a thoracic upper body constriction tightening which amplifies burnning wrenching pain. Now swallowing causes physical clicking feeling in throat.- Last few weeks couldnt sleep on the side only on back. Leaning forward eases pain. Mornings after waking up appetite going.- 3 weeks ago. It has progressed to sudden neck pressure/base of skull moment. With heat burning internally moving sensation. Things fast worsening since. Sitting hurts on hard surfaces, it activates it. Or soft couch which sinks. Lying down is worst. Cant keep still cause feel like might jerk.- Ongoing random twitches or pulses throughout body.- Neck feels like wrenching ripping burn pain internally. Like tearing off spine. Vibrations and heartbeat through the back/neck and pain are random, intermittent. Pains mild shooting stabbing in between other pain. Goes into arms and legs. But arms much more affected than legs. The old sciatica issue feels of a different nature of pain.- Writing about when lying down, need to be fidgetting cause cant keep still as pain intensifies and symptoms worsen when no movement. Strange perception of space.- Intermittent chest burning tightness. Underarm too.. Throat pressure, nose pressure.- Last few nights impossible to lie flat and keep still. Full on wrenching tension tight pressure that creeps up pain throughout upper back area and neck.- Cant sleep for 2 weeks, waking up every second hour at first. Now 4 nights of either 0 sleep or total of 3 maximum hours. Due to pain. Like spine tearing in two. … read more
