I really need a second opinion from a Neurologist (not CaliforniaMD). I have severe health anxiety and recently realized that one of my pupils (right eye) was larger then the left. Its not that big but big enough that I can tell. When I am outside they are both small. When I am in the dark they are both big. When I am in dim lit areas the right will be bigger then the left. So I went to three different eye doctors and they all looked at my eyes and ran tests and said that all my eye tests came back normal (eye pressure, nerves etc). I went to a neuro Opthmologist and he thought it was Horners Syndrome and scared me terribly. He dialated my eyes and determined it was not Horners Syndrome because both eyes dialated. In Horners syndrome one eye never dialates. He then said he thought it was anasocoria which is not anything bad. He told me to come back in 6 months to re-check. I am so scared that this is a brain tumor. The funny thing is that I had a brain MRI on January 15th of this year that came back completely normal. I have had pressure for the last few weeks on the inside and behind my eyes but Ragweed in Dallas right now is terrible. I don't have drainage and have been nausiated for teh last few weeks which I think could be due to my hypochondria and constant anxiety over possibly having a brain tumor. I know I need to talk to someone about my health anxiety because it ruins my life. I have a son on the way and don't want to be like this anymore. My question is does this sound like a brain tumor? Since I had a normal brain MRI in January less then 10 months ago does that make my chances it is a brain tumor pretty low? Do the symptoms I have been having even resemble a brain tumor? Please tell me your professional opinion so I can get on with my life. Do I need another MRI?

Hello!

You likely have physiological anisocoria and should not worry about a brain tumor, moreover a brain tumor would not affect the size of the pupil without any other severe symptoms such as debilitating headaches, paralysis of eye movement, and the dilation as your doctor suggested with the eye drops would not occur. You should not worry about a brain tumor and do not need another MRI of the brain.

Thank you RH. I apologize I have not accepted or responded sooner as I have been out of state on business. I have set up an apointment to talk with a therapist about my anxiety. One more question for you and I will accept your answer. I have had bad pressure behind my eyes. I haven't really had too bad of headaches but I am worried that the pressure behind my eyes is a result of a brain tumor. If this was a brain tumor and affecting my pupil and pressure behind my eyes would it come and go or stay constant. Some days teh pressure bothers me and other days it doesn't. You told me that a brain tumor would not affect the size of the pupil without severe symptoms. Since I had a normal brain MRI in January should that put me at ease that it is not something serious now?

I am really scared and I know I sound ridiculous but I am really worried this is something bad. I have had pressure between and behind my eyes and it hurts to move my eyes around. This along with the difference in pupil size has me convinced it is a brain tumor. You said a brain tumor would not affect the size of the pupil unless other severe symptoms were there. Would pressure behind the eyes classify as one of those severe symptoms. I am worried because I remember seeing on the internet that pressure behind the eyes was a symptom of brain tumors and now that tagged with the pupil issue I have had for a few months now has me so worried. If it was a brain tumor that was affecting my pupil wouldn't of the three eye Dr's seen something to make them worry?
