Hi Doug, Have a bad...
Hi Doug, Have a bad secondary coil on my 1976 Kawasaki KE175 B1. OEM P/N: 21121-039. Cannot find this coil anywhere new or used and can't find any replacement part numbers. Do I have any options? Can these ignition coils be refurbished?
Thank you,
Kevan

Hi Andre, the stock coil has two green wires and one black (ground) coming off it other than the spark plug wire. The one on e-bay only has one black and one green coming off it. Would this still work? I'll have to cut the old connector off and splice onto the new coil. tksNo need to call. If you can let me know if this will work or not. If you say it will work, for the money, I'll give it a try. Tks

Let me dig into it a bit, be back in a few minutes.

Thanks.

Thought the OEM had only one green wire but i guess i was wrong, sorry, my bad. I would NOT use the coil i mentioned earlier(link), I believe true capacitive discharge ignitions need an isolated primary circuit. I will opt out and leave the chance to another tech. Hopefully Doug is available and knows of a solution, i know he is extremely knowledgeable with Kawasaki's.

Sorry again.

Thanks, Andre.

Hi, this is Andre again. Been digging for that coil since we last spoke and seems to be non available new or used in the USA or Europe but i do have good news.....

One of my ex suppliers; Rick's Motorsport Electrics said(spoke on the phone) they might be able to find an equivalent or rebuild for you. They asked that you text pictures of the coil showing every side, wires, etc. with the year, make, and model stated in the header and body of the text to(###) ###-####

Please keep me in the loop.

Thanks, Andre.

Sorry I wrote your review in the wrong spot. I did correct it. I found a used coil on ebay that I paid $28 for. Says it came off the same bike but the picture is pretty fuzzy so couldn't really tell if it looks like mine or not. It came from a motorcycle salvage yard so I hope that gives them some credibility. If that doesn't work, I contact Rick's and make sure they know you sent me. Thank you Andre!
