thnks , put clutch plates on as described thick steel 1st followed by fiber steel fiber so on til last plate fiber clutch cable fully loosened down then pressure plate on with adjustmnt screw backed all the way out til plate fully on spring loaded as sank all screw to top of dowels coming outta clutch hub after tightened thats when i did clutch adjustmnts starting with hub adjust 1st once hand lever came out back off hub adjusting screw 1/4" turn with 1/8" freeplay on hand lever, tightened jamb nut , thats when i thought was good after started then went to put in gear which did but realeasing clutch , would feel it catch but thats it wont fully dissengage ???
Motorcycle Mechanic: Steve, Motorcycle Mechanic replied 4 months ago

that doesn't sound right.

I am unaware of a belt drive kit that does not require soaking the plates in trans lube or primary oil.

the adjustment process is as follows:

- slack clutch cable fully.

- back clutch adjuster screw out until it turns with no resistance, then turn it back in until it just contacts the clutch release push rod.

- turn the clutch adjuster screw in (CW) another turn. this takes all the slack out of the clutch release mechanism.

- back clutch adjuster screw out until it turns with no resistance, then turn it back in until it just contacts the clutch release push rod.

- turn the adjuster screw in and out a few times until you find the spot where it JUST contacts the clutch release push rod.

- back the adjuster screw out (CCW) 1/2 turn.

- while holding the adjuster screw in position, snug the lock nut.

- adjust the clutch cable adjuster for 1/8" free play of the cable end at the clutch lever bracket. squeeze the clutch lever a few times then, release the lever while pulling out on the cable jacket. check the free play at that time.
