Mechanic's Assistant: Has the clutch been slipping? Are you having any trouble shifting?

No..i had been making more cable adjustments lately . new cable and bars about 2 to 3 years ago

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Heritage yourself? What have you tried so far?

try this:

- slack clutch cable completely.

- loosen adjuster lock nut.

- turn adjuster in (CW) until it contacts the release rod, then continue another 1/2 turn.

- back out the adjuster (CCW) until you feel no resistance.

- turn it in (CW), until it just contacts the release rod.

- turn it in and out a few times until you find the exact point where it just contacts the release rod.

- from that point, back the adjuster out (CCW) 1/2 turn.

- while holding the adjuster still, snug the adjuster lock nut.

- adjust the cable adjuster for 1/8" free play of the cable ferrule at the clutch lever bracket. (squeeze the lever several times and, while pulling the cable away from the lever bracket, release the lever and check the free play between the cable ferrule and the bracket)

- lock the clutch adjuster lock nut.

let me know if you need more help.
