Polaris 300 wont turn over. Has new battery but just clicks

polaris 300 wont turn over. Has new battery but just clicks when starter is pushed like it has a low or dead battery. have triied jumping but nothing changes. Help
JA: How old is the battery? And have you tested it with a voltmeter?
Customer: new battery no did not check all batteries do the same
JA: What year is your 300?
Customer: 1979?
JA: Are you fixing your 300 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: oops.. 1997

Customer: It acts like a silinoid problem or a bad starter. Just started problem with a dead battery this spring

Ok, this is caused by a bad spot i the armature of th starter, and is commn,yu will need to replace the starter, are you planning on fixing this yourself?
