I have a Yamaha Terrapro that was making a frying sound in

Customer Question

I have a Yamaha Terrapro that was making a frying sound in the motor area. Now it does nothing when trying to start it. Do you think it's the CDI box needing to be replaced?
JA: Will the headlights turn on? Is the battery fully charged?
Customer: The battery has been fully charged but not installed again to try it out. The headlights have been out for years.
JA: What is the model/year of your motorcycle?
Customer: This is a 1988 Yamaha Terrapro YFP 350U, the one with a pto.
JA: Are you fixing your bike yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I replaced the starter selonid and nothing happened, before that is when I could heard the electrical frying sound.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Can a CDI be checked before replacing it?
