I removed and replaced a bad battery on my 1998 Honda vt600 vlx. After hooking everything back up, I can't get the bike started. Checked the main ignition fuse and all of the wiring. I have no lights, horn or anything else when I turn the ignition switch on...

Hi and welcome to the site, I’m Louie. Sorry you had to wait awhile but I’ll do my best to help.

Initially, let's start by reviewing and checking the basics. Proposed preliminary tries (if have not been done):

  • test for always available +12V on the red and re/white wires from the starter relay;
  • verify ground connection of battery's - terminal to frame and engine;
  • as well as to the green wires of the harness;
  • check +12V on the red wire of the ignition switch;
  • and IGN+12V on the ignition switch's red/black wire.
