Hi and welcome to the site, I’m Louie. Sorry you had to wait awhile but I’ll do my best to help.

Initially, have you considered / tried:

  • • attempting to crank the engine with no sparkplugs;
  • • spray WD40 or 2-t oil through the spark plug hole and allow to soak for a period of time;
  • • push the bike a very short distance while in gear.

Okay great I will try to do those things in the morning I'll let you know how I make out

Yes please and would look forward to an update when able.

...and Happy Holidays!

I tried to crank and it still did the same thing, the starter just does one loud click and doesn't turn the engine. I pulled the whole starter out and bench tested it and it worked fine.
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

Were you able to push the Sporster while in gear? ...even for a short distance only?

The idea was to hopefully jar loose whatever is stuck due to non-use.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I did roll in forward and backward while in gear and it did move about 8 inches then started to skid the wheels, I felt the pistons move a little
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
could the starter been worn and not strong enough to turn the transmission
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

Possible but unlikely with the starter.

Bear with me; can you re-try the "... roll in forward...while in gear..." with no spark plugs?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
will do in AM
Expert:  Louie replied 7 months ago.

I understand and yes please when able.
