2001 polaris sportsman 500 and the fan is not coming on.

2001 polaris sportsman 500 and the fan is not coming on. Unit is overheating and boiling the fluid out of the small resevoir. I see there is a fuse, but I think it is the thermostat. Thoughts?
JA: Have you checked the coolant? Have you checked for a leak in the cooling system?
Customer: no leaks and replaced the coolant as I was working with it over the weekend. No leaks from the tubing or bottom of the radiator.
JA: What is the make/model of your car?
Customer: 2001 polaris sportsman 500
JA: Are you fixing your bike yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes. going to start with thermostat and fuse
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Initially, how many wires on the "...thermostat..."? ...and is it fitted to the radiator? ...or to the engine?
