JA: What is the model/year of your Honda?
Customer: 2005 rancher manual shift
JA: How old is the transmission? Have you noticed any leaking?
Customer: same age 12 years no leaks
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: trying to run down short - on 3rd fuse now
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Initially, "...usually when I put in reverse...", but not always?

And please confirm that the original fuse was 15A ?

Likely possibility would be a pinched wire or rubbing raw to frame since it would appear to be intermittent.

Please check which 15A is blowing; normally would have a label on the fuse box/cover then we can determine the wire color to be traced.

Depending on the version, if it were:

  • LIGHT, then check/trace the black/brown wire;
  • IGN, then the black/green wire;
  • FAN HORN, then the blue wire;
  • ACC, the white/black wire.
