washed bike; 2007 v strom. Now won't start
JA: What is the voltage at the battery?
Customer: Good 14+; press starter and headlights dim. no cranking
JA: What is the model of your '07 motorcycle?
Customer: V strom 650
JA: Are you fixing your bike yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Well, this happened before and I took off clutch switch; opened it cleaned it and Voila! it worked. i'm in Peru, South America in the COUNTYSIDE! mechanics here don't even have multimeters. replacement parts are an IMPOSSIBILITY!
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Now when I 'Jump' the starter across the two poles the starter engine won't crnk?

Does the solenoid spark when you jump it? Are the lights still bright?

Solenoid sparks, big time. Lights still bright.
Engine cranked this morning when I ;jumped' it , now no crank??? Just a lot of sparks???

At this point I suggest you remove the spark plugs and try to crank the engine again. Its better to use the start button, remove the wires on the clutch switch and jump them together, It sounds like the switch is bad.
