JA: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about?
Customer: the temp light to say it running hot
JA: What year is your Magnum?
Customer: 2000
JA: Are you fixing your Magnum yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: i clean the oil cooler change the oil and filter

Hi Neville, I’m Louie. Sorry you had to wait awhile but I’ll do my best to help.

Initially, it would appear to be a false positive issue. Proposed preliminary checks (if have not been done) :

  • • test the sensor (thermistor at the oil cooler) (least likely);
  • • check the wiring particularly from sensor to control unit (pair of yellow/black wires) to TEMP indicator light (yellow/red wire) (likely);
  • • verify functionality of control unit (located in front of the gas tank) (most likely).

The control unit is a combo device; i.e. it is the voltage regulator, fan motor control and hot lamp hot lamp control.
