Customer Question

Have a Honda Rancer 2009 trx450fa. Sat up for 4 months after duck hunting season. Had to ride in 3 feet of water to get to duck blind.
Rode the bike recently for a short run. Killed on me.
When I took the airbox off it was filled half way with water and the air filter and cage disintegrated. Not sure what I suck up in the engine.
It runs fine for a while, but after 15 minutes it kills. Restarts after a little while.
Don't think the fan is kicking on but also do not see the overheat light come on.

Hi Paul and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, let's start with a review of basics. Proposed preliminary tries (if have not been done):

  • • drain, flush and replace the all fluids;
  • • remove/clean or better yet replace spark plug;
  • - note for possible rusting;
  • • check/clean likely clogging of air cleaner housing drain tube;
  • • check/clean possible debris at radiator and fan motor blades.
