Im, ive a honda st1100 that has just started to lose revs

Customer Question

hi, im steve , ive a honda st1100 that has just started to lose revs and power around the 7000 rpm or 100 mph. i was just returning from a trip in spain, so i gave it new plugs., air filter oil change ,and fuel filter. problem still there.
JA: Is the fuel filter an external one, or is it inside the tank?
Customer: external
JA: What is the model of your '5000 motorcycle?
Customer: its a honda st1100 pan
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: i could fix it myself if i know what to check ,ie valves our carbs, the bike runs great up to 90 mph.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: hell no,, i just dont want to pull it apart when it could be something else.

Hi Steve and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, it would appear to be a fuel delivery/starvation issue. Proposed preliminary tries (if have not been done):

  • • check/clean the fuel cap as it may have venting issues;
  • • check/verify consistency of vacuum to the shutoff valve;
  • • check/test fuel pump for possible heating, vapor lock or low output pressure.
