Customer Question

Hi
JA: Hi. How can we be of help?
Customer: My motorcycle won't start
JA: Does the engine turn over? How old is the battery?
Customer: The battery is new as of yesterday, the engine turns but won't start. I had it running with the gas tank off and air filter out. I put the tank back on put gas in it and now nothing
JA: What is the model/year of your motorcycle?
Customer: 1996 Honda cbr 600f3
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: It all started with the throttle stop screw. It fell out so I took it all apart and put it back in. Since then the bike hasn't started
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Yes, yesterday the only way it would run even with the gas tank is with the choke all the way on
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Mechanic about your situation and then connect you two.

Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, proposed preliminary tries (if have not been done):

  • • attempt to start again;
  • • carefully remove the spark plugs;
  • • check if the spark plugs are getting wet with fuel;
  • • cautiously perform spark test on all 4;
  • • drain each carb separately and collect the fuel from each bowl individually ;
  • • check/compare quantity and quality;
  • • if too little or uneven, check clean the fuel system/fuel path;
  • • check breather and/or evaporative emission control tube (depending on the version).
