Customer Question

Gidday how's it going. I've just bought a 1980 GS 1000g from a deceased estate.
Bikes done 53000 kms. Put a brand new battery in it and it won't even try to start.
When I push the starter button the ignition/ neutral light go dim and that's it.
Where would I even begin to start and how.

First thing to check is that the engine turns over. The pistons may be stuck to the cylinders from sitting. Try removing the small right side engine cover, use the correct size socket on the larger outer nut on the end of the crankshaft and try rotating the engine in the clockwise direction. It should rotate with some resistance as each piston comes up on compression. If the engine does not rotate then the pistons are stuck.Let me know what you find.
