i have a 2000 harley electric glide classic,all the timing componants was replaced and the oil pump also ...about 30,000 miles ago,still runs great..cranks fine,but sometimes when sitting still and idling it makes a rattling sound,but as soon as you give it some thottle it stops and may not do it again for 500 miles..

it could be almost anything. your drivetrain is rubber isolated from the frame and it moves, relative to the frame.

check the usual suspects:

- loose exhaust system components. (clamps, brackets, heat shields)

- loose motor mount components. (rubber isolators, adjuster links)

- any form of debris lodged between the frame and the power train.
