Customer Question

Looking at a M/C but all I have is a VIN # ***** work with, not even real sure what the make is. Owner thinks it is a Yamaha but to me it doesn't look correct. What I could find for the VIN is 4R5003103

hmmm, when you do a Google search you come up with someone selling this as a Yamaha in Billings MT? It has a Norton tank on it? Yellow?

all VIN numbers since 1981 are a 17 digit number.

the first number is ***** country of origin code, the next two letters are the manufacturer code.

that is not a VIN number. it looks like it may be an engine number.

the VIN is punched into the steering neck....either the left or right side.

if you can find the 17 digit VIN, I can help you.

if you have no 17 digit VIN, there are two possible reasons:

- the vehicle is older than 1981.

- the vehicle is not legal for sale or use.

let me know what you find.
