I have a 2002 Kawasaki 1500 Meanstreak. The gear box is u.s.

Customer Question

I have a 2002 Kawasaki 1500 Meanstreak. The gear box is u.s. & the drive shaft is on the way out. It has an exchange motor in it with only 40k klm's on it. I want to keep the bike as the rest of it is quite ok. However would it be a reasonable option to replace the gear box & tail shaft or just sell it off as a "project" bike for someone to spend the time & dollars on?
Kind regards

Hi Steve not sure what you are referring to as the "gear box" please explain with a little more detail, there is the internal transmission, the bevel gear case (which is by the gear shifter/left foot) and hen the final drive gear which is at the rear wheel ?

Also can you explain to me when you refer to "on its way out" what is the symptom and give you the impression that its on its way out ?

Thanks Mate
