On 2004 dyna efi, how does the fuel system see a ground fuel

Customer Question

on 2004 dyna efi, how does the fuel system see a ground for the fuel pump? through the ecm or from the small purple wire that links from the pump , regulator and plastic housing in center bridge of tank? or does the purple wire that clips in to the plastic housing ground direct to tank bridge some how?

It does not receive a ground from the ECM.

It, and the level sending unit, receives the ground from the black wire on terminal 3 in the plug and then through the tank top plate and support assembly (which is I think what you are referring to as the bridge).

I hope this helps. Thanks, P.J.
