I Have A 2010 FLHTCU It Clunks Really Loud When Trying to put

Customer Question

I Have A 2010 FLHTCU It Clunks Really Loud When Trying to put in first gear, the guys at the local shop say that's normal some do some don't, I have owned three other Harleys and none of them clunk when going in gear, would using a thicker transmission oil help,?.

He's right. It depends on clutch wear, oil thickness, and idle speed. So if your clutch is adjusted properly, you have 6 speed transmission oil in it, and your idle is set correctly it shouldn't be a hard clunk any more than normal. My last ultra would clunk pretty good but only after I had rode it for a while on a really hot day. So my issue was resolved with thicker oil.
