Customer Question

XVS 1300 Misfire Clean all electrical contacts. In particular reg / rec which once had water in bottom socket. Reg / rec contacts (2) also checked for tightness. one a bit loose - nipped up. Bike runs great but when stopped, say after 50 miles and restarted,
misfire starts, sometimes clears or gets worse. Each time bike stops and is re-started it gets worse. Clean all electrical contacts. OK again. Nb once the bike was misfiring and had fouled its rear plug. Replaced plug. OK again for 50 miles then.......misfire.

Hi and welcome back to JustAnswer,Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...Initially, "...when stopped......misfiring and had fouled its rear plug...", attempt to start again with throttle partially open. Then proposed preliminary checks (if have not been done) :• carefully remove the sparkplug;• check if the tip is wet with fuel; and then• cautiously perform a spark test;• results would indicate:- if not wet or overly wet, then fuel delivery issue;- if no/weak spark then electrical/ignition concern. Please post back results / observations of the above once tried.

My apologies. I misunderstood your service. This is far to basic for me.

I understand.Hopefully, another member may provide an alternate approach to your concern. The question would be re-opened as I would be opting out. Still, good luck with the Yamaha. This is not an Info Request.
