Question on starting problem, 2009 Buell XB12SS, 11,000

Customer Question

Hi, question on starting problem, 2009 Buell XB12SS, 11,000 m., new battery.
ignition on, needles sweep, fuel pump on, all normal.
try to start, starter relay clicks but starter solenoid does not engage, nothing at starter.
changed starter relay, check continuity in solenoid wire ( green wire ).
Will start immediately with a wire from battery + to solenoid wire.
Any opinion, I'm at a loss here. Otherwise, bike is perfect and runs well after
starting with "emergency" wire

Is there battery voltage on the black/red starter relay wire
key on, push starter button.
Check the red/black also for power key on,
(This might be blue color on your bike.)

No problem, let me know when you have time.

Good morning Wayne,
No power to that wire. Checked connections in relay-fuse block. Loose wire, did not contact with relay pin.
Tried starting many times, started OK each time.
Relay-fuse box a little flimsy, price to pay for a lightweight bike I guess. Also lots of vibration at idle.
I will just check it once in a while. Thanks and have a nice day,

Good job, glad you found the bad connection in the relay.
