Just replaced the clutch plates in a 1981 yamaha xs 650 bike

Just replaced the clutch plates in a 1981 yamaha xs 650 bike seems to go in all the gears but will not move nothing would do the same thing before we changed the old ones sounds like it shifts in all the gears but won't move

The clutch adjustment screw (left side) has to be backed out until
free and then turned in until it has a slight resistance.
Then back out about 1/8 turn and lock it.
Back off the cable adjuster too before setting the adjuster screw.
