Customer Question

Hi Wayne, I've got a friend who has a 2012 ducati 659 monster it has done 13,000 kilometers and the rear brake has faded away I was going to help my friend out with repairs or reconditioning and wanted to know what sort of service does the machine require after this amount of km's on the road?

Welcome,

Hi,
These are the most common checks at that mileage:
Change oil and oil filter
Valve clearance check
Check timing belt tension and condition
Check air filter
Check brake and clutch fluid levels
Adjust and lube whatever needs it.
Check chain/sprocket wear
Visual check for leaking fork or shock seals.
Tire wear and pressures.
Battery charge and fit. Check cables are tight.
Inspect or replace brake pads and discs
Check fuel lines, lights and generally all nuts, bolts
and fasteners.
Check general operation of switches, kill switch, side stand
switch, clutch switch.
Check throttle body condition.
If you are checking things over you can either clean
or replace things like spark plugs, clutch pack if
slipping and timing belts. These can often be
done around 24000 kilometers if okay.
Another good thing to check is wiring for chaffing
or rubbing through anywhere it looks tight.
