I have a 2010 polaris 170 we were riding it the other day

I have a 2010 polaris 170 we were riding it the other day and started up a hill and it spit and sputtered and let out a big puff of white smoke then quit. it will turn over but it will not start. my husband cleaned the carburator, the needle valve was
plugged and he unplugged it. put new spark plug checked the fuel filter and it still won't start help

Check the engine compression. It would have been running
very hot if the carb needle was plugged.
The compression should be enough that you can't hold
the pressure by hand with a finger or such. A gauge
is recommended if you have one.
If you get a reading let me know or what you find on that.
You can also stick a spare spark plug in the plug wire to check for spark by laying it on the engine and cranking it.
