Classic: the road the fuel injection light came on, the bike..stalled…

Customer Question
I own a 2006 kawasaki...
I own a 2006 kawasaki 1600 vulcan classic with 7400 miles. It has been repiped and has a power comander. While cruising down the road the fuel injection light came on, the bike started to backfire and stalled out. I disconnected the battery cables waited a minute and reconnected them. The bike then started, and went about two miles before the above mentioned situation occurred and stalled out again. What is most likely the
problem? Thanks

Do you know how to retrieve the FI codes?

No I do not. If I had diagnostic equipment I could troubleshoot it myself.

Should I ask another "expert"?

remove the front and rear seat, under the seat you will find a yellow lead, that wire lead will need to ground to the negative post on the battery using a jumper wire. turn the ignition switch on. push the mode button on left side of the meter to display the ODO Meter. then press and hold the reset button for more than two seconds, the button on the right side of the meter. when the FI letters come up in the LCD meter, count the number of flashes from the LED light on the left of the meter.

Let me know what you find.
