i have a 1985 yamaha moto 4 80. i need to time the cam and can't find the timing marks.

Are you sure it is a 1985 as I do not show a 1985 80cc in the Yamaha data base. if you have the vin I can try to double check the year.

I found it they are calling it a badger.


The cylinder needs to be on top dead center. this can be accomplished by turning the magnetos "T" mark to the pointer on the case




Place the cam chain on to the sprocket. Install sprocket onto the cam. install the sprocket paw #5 into the cam groove #6. make sure mark #7 is aligned with mark #8 on top of the cylinder head. The sprocket may need to be adjusted on the chain to get the marks to line up. If the marks line up on the magneto and the cam sprocket tighten the cam sprocket bolt to 14 ft lbs.




Install chain tensioner and then the tensioner lock.
