Customer: I just found out my front motor mount on my 2000 dyna low rider had failed and my Rinehart exhaust were toouching the frame rail on the right side. The motor mounts and the frame are only 6 months old and were instatleed at the H-D shop in Portland, Or. My problem is I'n in New Jersey so I just can't take it back to have if it fixed. The H-D mechanic in Portland just mailed me the new mount today. The manual is lacking on detaled info. It just support the front of the motor remover the old insulator, install and torque the two allen boolts in the front and then install the twe side bolts an torque. Job Over! Seems way to simple. Is there other thing I shoulld be looking at or looking for that could have coused this??? The origenal mounts lasted 8 years with no problem, the one caraped out after about 6 months and a 1,000 mile. I'm unenployed and like most tight on money, I just don't want to just through thr islolator on and have something even worse happen down the line.

Jack up the engine and install the new mount did the bolt come out of the on that lasted 6 months can you see what exactly made it fail

I see the bolt come loose or fall out more than a isolater failure

The shot mount is still on the bike, so I don't know what the in side looks like untill I have the one to replace it with. First thing I did was put the bike up on the HXXXXX XXXXXft jacked it up and took the weight of the front of the motor to check their torque value of the bolts. The top allen bolt came out nonmaly, put so 242 blue on it an torqued the top self tapping bolt back in. When I went to remove the bottom bolt it just spun, Not good! It took a pair of vise grips and tweisting it to get the bolt out. The treads were shot and striped off the end of the bolt. I took some low pressure air and blow the hole out with a paper towel, I got metal files and a few broken threads. Thats when I called Marshall in Portland and asked him what the hell did he do my new frame and motor mounts? He did replace bothe front and rear mounts because I told he to save everything for me to dig through whin I pick the bike up, the old motor mounts were on the pile os junk. He said nothing of couse but said he hand twwo front motor mounts in stock on one was set on it's way today. I take the bolts are a one time deal also.
