Suzuki: pull..approx 15mins engine starts missing and cuts out

Resolved Question:

I have a 400cc Suzuki Eiger Quadrunner. Starts perfect with pull start, but after running for approx 15mins engine starts missing and cuts out. Engine will not start again until it has cooled down.

HiCustomerand welcome to JustAnswer!

My name is XXXXX XXXXX I'm here to advise on the Suzuki Eiger.

What year is your Eiger?
What area of the world do you live in?

Here's a couple of questions for you that will help me determine the problem.

Is it true that there is a good spark when the cutting out/stalling problem occurs?

When was the last valve clearance check done?

Customer: replied 8 years ago.
Rick, Hi. I do not have the year but the Frame number is XXXXX and the Eng No. is K423133394. My location is Australia.

PS. Spark seems to be fine when engine cuts out with plug outside. I have no idea when the valve clearance was done but it does tick a little bit. What would the clearance be?
Expert:  mrfixitRick replied 8 years ago.
The valve clearances are:

Valve Clearance (when cold)
IN: 0.05-0.10 mm (0.002-0.004 in)
ex: 0.22-0.27 mm (0.009-0.011 in)

A follow up regarding valve clearance...If a valve clearance was too tight with a cold engine, it could prevent the valve from seating properly when hot, losing compression in the cylinder until it cools down.

You might try doing a cold compression test, followed by a hot compression test immediately when the machine dies when hot. But checking/adjusting valve clearances is adequate for now.
