Hi, I have a 2002 Pagero, and the brake motor keeps pumping on and off, also the brake pedal is hard

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fluids recently?

Yes they are all ok

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model of your '02 Mitsubishi?

Pagero DI-D 3.2 diesel

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?

Bleed all the brakes, checked the 2 relays and power supply

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Could it be the accumulator not holding pressure?

Hi, my name is ***** ***** I will be happy to assist with this today. In some cases, I may need more info to assist better.I apologize for any delay.

Have any warning lights come on on the dash at all with this issue?

Is it running without even applying the brake and does it only run when the vehicle is moving or even at a stand still with the engine running?

Let me know so we can continue, thanks, Pete.

Hi Pete, I'm Frank, Yes the pump is on and off with just the ignition on, and at times the abs & brake warning on cluster come on
Mitsubishi Mechanic: peterpete190, Auto Technician replied 7 months ago

Hi Frank

If you can get the fault codes read out with a compatible scan tool or computer plugged into your model's data port there should be at least one code set in the anti-lock brake computer that will help to locate and repair this issue here.I have seen issues with the anti-lock brake ECU cause this issue before in the past with it needing replaced so this is a definite possibility of what is occurring here.It is also possible the accumulator is losing pressure causing the pump to run to pressurize but more common can be the anti-lock brake computer itself. The codes do need read out to help to locate the fault and then it can be repaired from there.Without having the codes checked it can be difficult to pinpoint this issue here.

If more help is needed, use the reply tab to continue our conversation. If no further assistance is needed, kindly rate my service, your 5-star rating is appreciated ( should be a link to click on here or above). You can rate at any time and we can continue to work on your question as this will not close out your question.Keep in mind in some cases it can be difficult to fully diagnose or help repair your vehicle without seeing it and I work on delivering the best possible answer from what I see to work with.

Thanks Pete
