There are quite a few thing that could cause a change in temperature as you're having. The problem may be the compressor turning off for whatever reason, it could be a blend door issue, a bad expansion valve or it may be a cooling fan issue. If the cooling fan isn't operating or isn't spinning fast enough then vent temperature will warm up at slow speeds and while stopped.

What were the actual system pressures when you tried to add refrigerant?
