What exactly is happening in the front, there is no movement from the wheels at all? Are there any unusual sounds up there?

My concern here is that the rear axle is actually driven through the front differential... so there aren't a whole lot of possibilities here that could cause zero movement from the front wheels but the rears to spin.

Are you able to clear around the front wheels to get a look behind them to see if the axles are turning when gas is given in gear?
