I replaces rear struts on 2004 mitsubishi outlander and now

Customer Question

i replaces rear struts on 2004 mitsubishi outlander and now i hear squeaks that were never there

Do the squeaks sound like they are coming from inside the rear of the vehicle or outside the vehicle?

If inside, it's not entirely uncommon to pick up a new squeak or rattle from the interior when a new strut is installed. The reason being the suspension is stiffer upon initial installation so you may hear some minor squeaks from interior rattle early on.

If the squeaking is outside from the area of the strut install then make sure properly torqued the bolts tight while the suspension is under load (vehicle sitting on ground). There may just be a slightly loose mounting issue cause the mount or bushing to squeak as it articulates.

Let me know how else i can help please.

With no OBVIOUS areas of concern or noticeable bushing failures. Then next best step would be to replace the lower control arm bushings since they are known to squeak on this year model.
