Mitsubishi Montero Sport ES 4x2: How do I reset the alarm system

Resolved Question:

How do I reset the alarm system on my 1998 Montero without the remote button unit? I have the code number and have gone thru a battery replacement before but have forgotten the procedure.

To disarm the alarm, do the following:

Connect battery so that alarm sounds
Insert key into ignition
Push and hold down on the red LED on the left side of the dashboard
While holding the LED, turn the key to the Start position
Engine will crank up and alarm will cancel

To input your code in the radio, verify the radio displays "code"
Use preset button 1-4 to input the code. Each press of a preset increases the corresponding digit of the code by one. So for example pushing preset one would show 0-1-2-3 etc. Once the correct first digit is shown, move on to the second digit with preset two, etc.
When the correct code is displayed you will need to push the unlock button, which varies by radio but is always either CD, AMFM or TAPE. The radio will beep and turn on when the correct button is pushed.
