my 1997 mitsubishi eclipse 2.0 non turbo automatic trans in limp mode will not shift out of 2nd gear showing code p1768 and p0700 replace tcu and speed sensor did not work.
Hi welcome to JA.com.I will answer your question the best I can,

Check your relay as explained below, this will put your trans in limp mode .

DTC 15/P1768: TRANSAXLE RELAY ALWAYS OFF.

1. Turn ignition on and off several times and listen for transaxle relay engaging.
If relay engages, go to next step.
If relay does not engage, remove and test transaxle relay.
If relay is okay, go to step 4 .

2. Measure voltage between transaxle relay connector terminal No. 8 and ground.
See Fig. 1 .
If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
If battery voltage is not present, check wiring harness for open circuit between battery and transaxle relay connector.

3. Check and repair wiring harness for short to power between TCM connector terminal No. 56 and transaxle relay connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
Also check and repair Red wire for short to power between TCM and solenoid and pressure switch assembly.
If wiring harness and connectors are okay, recheck trouble codes.
If trouble code still exists, replace TCM.

4. Measure continuity between transaxle relay connector terminal No. 6 and ground. See Fig. 1 .
If continuity exists, go to next step.
If continuity does not exist, repair wiring harness between transaxle relay connector terminal No. 6 and ground.

5. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between transaxle relay connector terminal No. 4 and ground.
If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
If battery voltage is not present, repair wiring harness between transaxle relay connector terminal No. 4 and TCM.

6. Check TCM and transaxle relay connectors.
If connectors are okay, recheck trouble code.
If trouble code still exists, replace TCM.
