Customer Question

My daughter received a NROTC scholarship in November and was subsequently accepted into her first choice, UNC-Chapel Hill. In April she received a letter saying she needed a waiver for Psoriasis. This was after paying registration fees and turning down all other scholarships and college acceptance. Letter said result of waiver would take 6 weeks. In the meantime we incurred more expenses traveling to orientation for UNC. We live in Illinois so this was not cheap. She just received a letter today dated June 24th but postmarked July 11 saying her waiver was denied. Do we have any recourse to appeal waiver? She hasn't had signs of Psoriasis for 4 years. If not, can we do anything about the money spent and other scholarships lost?

I am sorry for this dilemma. But not sure I understand your specific question. Are you asking if you can sue the government to recover these costs?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not necessarily . My daughters dream is to be a naval officer. Our hope would be that she still could do this.
