Thank you. Are you looking for him to come home for a temporary visit because your mother is gravely ill, or are you seeking to end his deployment/assignment?
Well, as a general officer he could request reassignment to return because of "family hardship," but he would have to relinquish his position/command.
This would have to be approved by the commander that he reports to currently. As a general officer the request would require little more than a letter from him to his commander requesting reassignment. If approved, he would be sent stateside.
