Looking for an attorney to give advice. Basically fraudulent
Basically fraudulent entry/enlistment, but my father in law never lied, the recruiter apparently faked his GED without him knowing back in 1976. He served over 180 days and just wants an honorable discharge Stateside. 1976-1977 for about 19 months, made it to E4 it says "released from military control" on his 214. I have never heard of that and I am a retired LTC … read more

I was in the USMC in 1976 was in about 40 days I got injured hernia issue,,, I decided it best for me to see my own doctor, they gave me a DD214 and an Honorable discharge dd256, Under Medical issue I assume.. according to the VA if you served before 1980 there is no certain time that needs to be served to get VA benefits.. I was wondering what my chances are of being able to get VA medical care or other benefits. Length of Service Prior to September 8, 1980, there was no minimum length of service necessary to be considered a veteran for most VA benefits. However, for an individual who enlisted after September 8, 1980, there are now certain minimum length of service requirements. The general requirement is either 24 months of continuous active duty or the “full period” for which the servicemember was called or ordered to active duty.14 .. thanks you very much… read more
