I was discharged from the navy in 2000. I joined in 1995. Characterization of service was general. I was wondering if i might qualify for any VA benifets.
Hi, My name is Philip. I am an attorney with over 16 years experience. Hopefully I can help you with your legal question.

5 years service? General (under honorable conditions) discharge?

Then you qualify for ALL VA benefits EXCEPT the GI Bill.

The GI Bill requires an honorable discharge.

But all other VA benefits requires either an honorable or general discharge. Some also require 24 months or more service (but seems you have that)

So you will qualify for VA benefits, including health care.

let me know if you have more questions, happy to help if I can
