My Word Documents that have been saved seem to be

My Word Documents that...

My Word Documents that have been saved seem to be disappearing. And ALL of my others cannot seem to be opened. They are being deemed "inaccessible" Please Please help

Technician's Assistant: Is your Word file saved to cloud storage services like Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive?

I think so....But that doesn't seem to have the documents either.

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Microsoft Office Expert to know before I connect you?

Yesterday, several of these lost Documents were in my Open REcent File, but were shadowed and could not be opened at all. And now those shadowed proof is totally gone. Not in my Trash...Gone

Power off the mac

Then start the Mac and hold down the Command and R keys at startup.

Hold these keys until the Apple logo appears. After your computer finishes starting up, you should see a desktop with an OS X menu bar and an OS X Utilities window

choose Disk Utility from the Utilities window, or from the Installer menu if you're started from an installation disc.

Click the First Aid tab.

Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.

Select your Startup Disk (usually named "Macintosh HD").

Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.

Let this complete and when it has, tell me if you still have the problem please.

I have not mentioned anything about payments... I gave you a set instructions to do.. I will again repeat below

Power off the mac

Then start the Mac and hold down the Command and R keys at startup.

yes, then navigate to the date before you lost the files, go to where the files were and you can then click restore to restore them

When I go to the Time clock Icon...it only gives me the option of "skip this back up" or "enter time Machine"

Okay ...I tried that...
And the REstore button was shadowed....So I went to the day before the back up...on the right hand side...and pressed the last date.

Ok, then there is no backups at all, so the Time Machine has never been enabled.

In this even you wont be able to restore them sorry, the drive was corrupted, and this we fixed, but the files you lost are now gone sorry.

I advise you enable ot to avoid this in the future via

The Apple menu and go to “System Preferences”, then choose “Time Machine”

Click on the “Select Backup Disk…” button

Select the G drive and ensure it is set to Daily

Then you will avoid this occurring again.

But the issue is you have no backups to restore from sorry, so you wont be able to restore the currently missing files.

Do not think anything was Restored. Sadly. I was able to press on the dateline on the side. But not on the "restore" button.And nothing restored on Word

No word does not restore as such, as the restore button is not enabled, it means there is nothing to restore sorry, but I urge you to do the instructions I gave you as the G drive was never set up for backups and this is why you cannot restore.

Where did they go.? They were lost as your drive was corrupted

And why were they there yesterday.? because the issue occurred today

And why are they still listed on my file, but just not accessible. Because word just has a link to recent files whether they are there or not

why would the g=Drive fail me./ It was never setup which is why I gave you the instructions to set this up

Ok, this is what I am saying about enabling time machine as it was not enabled

There is no "cloud" you need to setup and use a cloud such as dropbox, but your best solution is to enable time machine per the instructions I gave.

Why : wont the restore button become unshadowed? Because time machine is not enabled and backing up

I am just unlucky....that both my Word Document folder and The G-Drive Time Machine broke down simultaneously.And ALL MY RECENT Word Documents are unretrieveable. ??? That seems crazy.

Your G drive time machine was not set up, it was not even connected.

This is why you have nothing to recovery.

This is why you need to set it up as per the instructions I gave you
