Purchased. New Mac Air. Installed back up of old data. Bought new Office program.. Now I have old and new Excell on the one computer. How can I transfer all my figures to new Excel icon?
JA: What's the make and model of your computer? And what version of Excel are you using?
Customer: Apple Macbook Air new. Model A1466
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: InstLled all data from backup. Just installed Office 365. Want to transfer excell old data to new Excell Office. Have both icons on my computer.
JA: Anything else you want the Microsoft Office expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Just that I'm technically challenged!

Go to the Mac's Finder.
Find the file type you'd like to open with a specific app, and select it.
Click on the File menu and select Get Info.
Expand Open with: by clicking on the triangle to the left.
Select the Open with: menu, then choose the app you'd like to use to open all documents like that one. (the new excel application)
Click the Change All... button.
You'll get a dialogue box asking you to confirm your choice. Click Continue.
Close the Get Info window.
Now, double-clicking on those files will cause the new application to open, instead of what happened before.
