I am working in excel and having trouble copying a formula
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 10 months ago.

Please, help me understand your problem so that I can help.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
i have multiple worksheets that are identical and one master worksheet
I can copy across which captures data from the different columns within the same worksheet. When I try to copy down, the formula does not pick up the worksheet name and therefore it copies from the same worksheet
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 10 months ago.

Thank you for the update.

What is the formula before the copying?

What is the formula after the copying?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
=+Charleston!C$9so across I can copy the data from the columns in the Charleston worksheetWhen I copy down, I get =+Charleston!c9 instead of =+Delaware!c9
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 10 months ago.

Okay. How do you want this to work? The rows need to pull information from different sheets. "How" does Excel know that?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I want to pull information from different sheets. This is the formula i have in the far left column. I was able to copy down and get the results I pulled the names of the worksheets. Is it different when working with text than numbers?=Charleston!A$1
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 10 months ago.

When you paste cell formulas, Excel only understands that you are moving the location of the formula and changes the formula to match the new location, accordingly.

I have run out of ideas.

For this reason, I am opting out of the question and allowing another expert the chance to help.

The next expert will see all that is on this page, so there will be no need to repeat anything.

When another expert picks this up, you will be notified by email.

Thank you for your patience.
