Customer Question

Hi, need some help. I have an Excel report including multiple account numbers. I am trying to find out how many time the same account number shows up (total count) I believe there is a way to do this in Excel with a function without manually doing it. Any advise on how?

Hi There. I am Bing and I look forward to helping you with your issue today.

Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

As I remember they are COUNT and COUNTIF functions. Can you please attache your XLS file so I make changes and post it back?

Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Please better manually illustrate your result in a worksheet so I can make sure the result is something you are expecting. Is it okay for you?

Did you get the file?
Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Got it. Thanks.

Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Do you actually mean the filed of Customer Number? If yes, I think the best way to do that is to use Pivot Tables.

Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Done. Please review.

Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Did you open the XLS and saw one more sheet named "Customer Number Counts"?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
File is not opening properly. Can you please send to my email address
Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Please see attached the screenshot which shows every Customer Number's total count is shown there.

Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Not quire sure what Excel version I have. It's not the latest version
Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Email sent. Got it?

Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

BTW, just double check did you see the screenshot I posted above, which shows the required total number for each Customer ID in a new worksheet?

Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Any feedback please? Was it something you expected.

Expert:  bbao replied 10 months ago.

Just in case you do want to know the function for counting the Customer Number field in my demonstrating pivot table, as mentioned in my second comment, it is function COUNT.

I am positive for my answer. However, if you do think it is not something you expected, please upload a worksheet to demonstrate your expected result. Thanks.
