TRYING TO INSTALL WINDOWS PRO 8.1 ONTO EXISTING SYSTEM. cURRENT SYSTEM OPERATES MICROSOFT XP PROFESSIONAL VERSION 2002 SERVICE PACK 3.
INSERTED THE 8.1 DISK. MESSAGES ARE :
FILE AUTO RUN DLL COULD NOT BE LOADED OR IS CORRUPT ERROR CODE IS 0X7F.

I am Pete, and I'll be happy to assist with your question today.
You cannot upgrade from XP to 8.1 by running the disc, so you will need to boot using the CD/DVD drive and boot to the disc then install Windows from there, rather than starting up XP and trying to install Windows 8.1 from within it.
