I am having trouble figuring out how to eliminate data either

This answer was rated:

I am having trouble figuring out how to eliminate data either through a pivot table or through a formula to get the data to filter appropriately through a pivot table.

The first column in the Excel spreadsheet is employee numbers. Another column is a job code for that particular employee number. Numerous employees have multiple lines of data with the same employee number but a different job code. Job codes are: TCHSUB, STPN, HRLY, DAILY, SRVSUB, OT, BDUTY, COACH, STUDENT.

I need to determine who the employees are that have job codes of STPN, HRLY, DAILY, OT, BDUTY, COACH, STUDENT but not include any employees that also have the job code of TCHSUB OR SRVSUB.

How can this be done?

The-PC-Guy :

Thanks for using JustAnswer. My name isXXXXX will do whatever I can to answer your question

The-PC-Guy :

can you send me your spreadsheet

The-PC-Guy :

i could set up the pivot table for you

Customer:

Okay, stupid question but how can I attached a file? It will only let me attach an image. Pasting in the data doesn't keep the data in correct columns.

The-PC-Guy :

ok

The-PC-Guy :

just use that image button

The-PC-Guy :

but click the excel file instead

The-PC-Guy :

should work

The-PC-Guy :

i have an alternative if that doesnt work

Customer:

It tells me wrong image type and won't attach it.

The-PC-Guy :

ok

The-PC-Guy :

www.wikisend.com

The-PC-Guy :

after uploading to them

The-PC-Guy :

they give you ID#

The-PC-Guy :

paste that number here

Customer:

889650

The-PC-Guy :

give me a minute to check that out

The-PC-Guy :

i see why it wouldnt attach

The-PC-Guy :

they don't like macro files

The-PC-Guy :

so we gonna use the raw data tab to create the pivot table from?

Customer:

Yes

The-PC-Guy :

and what information do you want in the table

The-PC-Guy :

like if employee id goes down left column

The-PC-Guy :

and job code across the top?

Customer:

That would be fine.

The-PC-Guy :

let me see what I can do

The-PC-Guy :

one more question while I am working on this

The-PC-Guy :

your are looking to not have the name displayed if they contain

The-PC-Guy :

TCHSUB OR SRVSUB

The-PC-Guy :

so if they have

The-PC-Guy :

anything including those 2 we do not want it displayed

The-PC-Guy :

did you get my last message?

The-PC-Guy :

I don't want you to think I left you

The-PC-Guy :

let me know when you are back

Customer:

Sorry about that. I got caught in a meeting with the superintendent.

Customer:

Yes, with your assumption.

The-PC-Guy :

ok

The-PC-Guy :

so in the case of

The-PC-Guy :

nicols allen

The-PC-Guy :

they have that category

The-PC-Guy :

so their name should not be displayed

Customer:

Correct

The-PC-Guy :

ok

The-PC-Guy :

lemme see what I can doo

The-PC-Guy :

this may take a while

The-PC-Guy :

ok, i think this will require some VBA

The-PC-Guy :

since this is already an XLSM file

The-PC-Guy :

that shouldn't be too dificult

The-PC-Guy :

I will hopefully have something for you by end of day

The-PC-Guy :

You will be contacted when I post my results

Customer:

Thank you for the update.

The-PC-Guy :

np

The-PC-Guy :

ok its done

The-PC-Guy :

click the link to download and test

The-PC-Guy :

the macro runs when you open the workbook and enable content

The-PC-Guy :

it will remove all the names from the pivot sheet that have the 2 values you didn't want to see
