# I need help with an excel formula. It involved 2 different

I need help with an excel formula. It involved 2 different sheets. I want the formula to state:

If cell A23 = "JG," then search for all the "JGs" in column B of a different sheet, the add up all the numbers affiliated with "JG" in column D of that different sheet.

This is the formula I've been playing with, but it doesn't seem to work: =IF(A23="JG",SUM(LOOKUP(A23,CurrentStatus!\$B\$3:CurrentStatus!\$B\$2000,CurrentStatus!\$D\$3:CurrentStatus!\$D\$2000)))
