Hello
I have a question regarding MS Outlook. I have back up .pst files saved on a drive that I want to be able to open on my laptop. I have MS Outlook currently, but only see my old back up files and not the new current ones. How do I open/import the new files to view on my laptop as well? Do I need new MS Outlook for the new files?

thanks!

The-PC-Guy :

Thanks for using JustAnswer. My name isXXXXX will do whatever I can to answer your question

The-PC-Guy :

do you have outlook installed on the computer you are trying to view the emails on?

Customer:

Yes outlook 2010

The-PC-Guy :

OKAY

The-PC-Guy :

you don't necessaryilly need outlook to view the messages, there are PST viewers.

The-PC-Guy :

but outlook is the best if you have it installed

The-PC-Guy :

you may not have imported it correctly

The-PC-Guy :

the best bet would be for me to remotely connect to your computer and show you how to import it

The-PC-Guy :

would you be interested in this?

Customer:

What PST viewers do you recommend? will they also allow me to open attachments in the emails?

The-PC-Guy :

there are several 3rd party PST viewers

The-PC-Guy :

but the best bet is to use outlook if you have it installed

The-PC-Guy :

attachments

The-PC-Guy :

are stored differently

The-PC-Guy :

as files, not as emails

The-PC-Guy :

so the attachments would have to be viewed in whatever program they go to

The-PC-Guy :

for example word docs would be viewed in word

The-PC-Guy :

pdf files in acrobat

The-PC-Guy :

ect...

The-PC-Guy :

http://download.cnet.com/PST-Viewer/3000-2369_4-75289424.html

The-PC-Guy :

that is just one such viewer

The-PC-Guy :

but you could always do an internet search for more

The-PC-Guy :

i personally view all psts

The-PC-Guy :

and archives in outlook directly

The-PC-Guy :

so this is still the first choice

The-PC-Guy :

now do you want me to help you import the file to outllok

The-PC-Guy :

or do you want to try a viewer first?

Customer:

I think I will try the viewer first. Can you hold while I try it?

The-PC-Guy :

okay dokay

Customer:

Thanks - setting up the wizard download now

Customer:

Hi Andrew - sorry my computer shut down - battery ran out before I could plug it in. I am checking the download now.

The-PC-Guy :

The-PC-Guy :

The-PC-Guy :

The-PC-Guy :

Customer:
