I was working away in an Excel worksheet that I have been using

I was working away in an Excel worksheet that I have been using and regularly updating and saving when suddenly the whole screen reverted to a blank worksheet - just blank cells. The file still had it's original title but no content. I regularly back up but obviously have a blank space since my last back up. Where has it gone, and canI get it back? Incidently, I was copy pasting at the time of loss. I had just highlighted to Copy and was about to scroll down to find the Paste area when upon the mouse click to scroll everything disappeared. HELP?

at the bottom you should see tabs for sheet 1, sheet 2, and sheet 3

No. I have since been out and in on the same file name and there is a totally blank worksheet. Just cells.
